I have already told about my love to Innercity several times. Now I have one more big reason for my big love. This great tape was recently released by one the best-known US label Not Not Fun. Two long tracks of shimmering synth topping flavored with perfectly quiet and calm tropical beats gently throw you faceup and fondle with balky sunny paws. Each sound hurts. Each sound tells you that you are not in a right place. Each sound tell you that you are happy in a wrong place.

What we have at the bottom line is a melodic and a bit nervous, pushy and junkie medley that never stays in a dormant state but takes different shapes and forms, pretty eerie and yet unseen...

6 tracks full of lo-fi synth vibes and broken drum machines open up to you giving all the keys from all the doors in this world. Now you have to make a decision. Road movie melodies go on the radio while you\re passing by white castles and huge slow elephants. Their caballeros flourish hands and fire pink and yellow signal stars. Painty sound makes your moves thoughtless and spontaneous. Walking changes with flying but you do not notice this. You look. God, you love to look now.

There are six awesome songs on this record.
Six beautiful songs full of sadness, friendly smiles, mezmerising vocals and roving signals. High-pitched lo-fi beats notch tender synth lines emitting over the crevasses. The whole thing is not bogged down but clear and melodic. Dappled electronics perfectly fit both illusive tropical jams and dramatic awe of adrifting vocals.

Pedro Magina - Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five  

This album from a Pedro Magina from Portugal consists of 8 abstract pieces. Synth drones and reverberations investigate the possibility of eluding oneself. The last track on the A side – Sunday morning – is a classical example of mesmerizing and tranquil analogue play from 80s. Absolutely amazing! B side begins with more ricky-ticky rhythms of Kickflip and then gets back on an oscillating needle, shuddering and pointing on psychic and a bit ambient surfaces. Highly recommended tape. Pedro Magina already has one work ‘Nazca Lines’ EP released on a very good Ruralfaune label carrying out fantastic Synth Series. 

Maria Minerva - Tallinn At Dawn

This 10-track tape opens with pulsating vocals and half-hidden beats. The video on throbbing California Scheming can be viewed via Vimeo. The album is full of coy sound of drum machine, hermal echoes and non-linear melodic lines. Sounds stealthily get under your shirt and fondle a skin with cold and pallid arms. The last track is the noisiest on the tape and finishes the record as an alarm.

Maria was born in Tallin, currently lives and makes tunes in London. Her 12” EP ‘Noble Savage’ is now released by 100% Silk.
